Taiwan's uniform-invoice lottery is drawn every two months. The rules never change; remembering to check is the hard part. Here are the Ministry of Finance's draw dates, matching rules and claim deadlines, and how SpendSay checks your invoices for you as a side effect of keeping your ledger.
Uniform invoices run in two-month periods. Under the Ministry of Finance's rules, the draw is on the 25th of every odd-numbered month, for the previous two months' invoices. Prizes can be claimed for three months, starting on the 6th of the month after the draw:
| Draw date | Invoices from | Claim period |
|---|---|---|
| 25 January | November–December of the previous year | 6 February – 5 May |
| 25 March | January–February | 6 April – 5 July |
| 25 May | March–April | 6 June – 5 September |
| 25 July | May–June | 6 August – 5 November |
| 25 September | July–August | 6 October – 5 January |
| 25 November | September–October | 6 December – 5 March |
Each period's winning numbers and the exact claim dates (including adjustments for public holidays) are published on the Ministry of Finance e-invoice platform; treat that as authoritative.
Each period the Ministry publishes one special-prize number, one grand-prize number and a few first-prize numbers, and sometimes extra sixth-prize numbers. Only the eight digits of the invoice number count; ignore the two letters in front:
So start with the last three digits: if they match neither a first-prize number nor an extra sixth-prize number, the invoice hasn't won (except the special and grand prizes, which need all eight). Prize amounts are set by the Ministry; see its announcement.
Cloud invoices stored on a carrier (such as a mobile barcode) are also entered into separate cloud-invoice-only prizes.
For applying for a mobile barcode, linking your other carriers and improving your odds, see "improving your odds" in the e-invoice guide.
As long as the invoice number is on the entry, the app fetches the winning numbers after each draw and checks every invoice you recorded for that period, so you never have to compare numbers yourself. Invoice numbers get onto your entries in any of these ways:
Where to see it: Settings → Tools → invoice prize check. At the top are the winning numbers of the two latest draws (the newest one expanded), handy for checking paper invoices by hand. Below them is your list of winning invoices with the period, invoice number and prize, plus your total winnings. Until you win, it says there are no winning records yet.
Win notifications: when one of your invoices wins, the app sends a push notification, and tapping it opens the prize check screen. You need to allow SpendSay's notifications on your phone to get it; without the push, the win still shows up on that screen.
Good to know:
The prize check doesn't need a Premium subscription.
The draw happens six times a year; keeping your ledger is every day. SpendSay treats invoices as a source of entries: scan one and the store, the total and every line item come in, each item filed under its own category. With a mobile barcode, a whole month of cloud invoices comes in as one CSV import, and invoice numbers you already have are skipped. Once the spending is recorded, the invoice number is on the entry, so it's checked when the draw comes.
For scanning, importing, editing items and totals that don't add up, see the e-invoice guide. For spending without an invoice, saying it is fastest: see the voice entry guide.
