Your entries live in the cloud and belong to your account. Here's how to move to a new phone, what to do when you forget your password, how to lock the app, how to share with family, and how to get data out and in.

Every entry you record is stored in our cloud under your account, not on the phone. So on a new phone, install the app and sign in the same way you did before (email, verification code, Google or Apple), and everything is back. The sign-in screen marks the method you used last time.
Take a minute before you switch to check three things:
A few settings live on the phone itself rather than in your account, so set them again on the new one: app lock, biometric sign-in, your carrier barcode (and its home-screen widget), the daily reminder, and display preferences such as theme and font size. Your base currency and month start day are stored in your account and come along.
One account can be signed in on several devices at once; sign in to the web app on a computer to see the same data (browsing is free; adding and editing on the web needs Premium). Moving over from the old HalaMoney app and can't find your old records? See "Old data & accounts" in the FAQ.
Since August 2026 you can reset your password yourself in the app, without waiting for support:
To protect accounts, the screen says the code was sent whether or not that address is registered, and one address can request at most three codes an hour. If nothing arrives, check your spam folder. Other cases:
To change a password you do remember: Settings → security → change password. Your other devices are then signed out and need the new password.
Settings → security has two switches, each doing one job:
| Switch | What it does |
|---|---|
| App lock | Asks you to verify every time you open or return to the app, so someone holding your phone can't see your entries. |
| Biometric sign-in | After signing out, sign back in with your face or fingerprint instead of typing a password. |
Verification uses your phone's own Face ID or fingerprint; if that fails, you can unlock with your phone's own screen-lock passcode. The new app has no separate app-only PIN. The old app's four-digit passcode lock has been replaced by this, so there's no app passcode to change or to forget: to change how you unlock, change your phone's screen-lock passcode.
On a phone without biometrics you'll see "this device does not support biometrics". Both features are in the phone app only, not on the web.
Go to Settings → account features → shared ledgers. There are two ways to invite:
When sharing you choose where it starts, all history or from today, and whether the other person can see your memos.
How sharing works:
The old app had two features, "shared accounts" and "joint bookkeeping"; the new app has this one way of sharing. If what you want is for two people to both record into the same ledger (a couple with joint finances, say), sign in to the same account on both phones; one account can be used on several phones at once. Use an email-and-password account for this, since Google and Apple sign-ins belong to one person and aren't easy to share, and remember that if one of you changes the password, the other phone has to sign in again with the new one.
Settings → tools → data export & import, under "export". Pick a date range (all history by default), then one of:
The file holds only your own entries, opens directly in Excel or Google Sheets, and has 17 columns:
date, amount, type, category, subcategory, store, memo, invoice number, tags, currency, entry ID, item name, quantity, unit price, item amount, item category, item subcategory (the headers in the file are in Chinese)
When an invoice has many items, each item gets its own row and the rows of one entry share the same entry ID, so you can analyse a single item too (how many times you bought toilet paper this year, say).
Also under Settings → tools → data export & import:
| What you have | Which to use | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| A general ledger CSV (your own spreadsheet, or a file exported from this app) | "Import ledger data" → choose a CSV file | The first row must contain the column names 日期 (date) and 金額 (amount). Category, subcategory, store, memo, invoice number, tags and currency columns are read too if present; item columns match the export file. |
| The Ministry of Finance e-invoice consumption CSV | "Import government e-invoices (Taiwan)" → choose the e-invoice CSV | Invoice numbers you already have are skipped by default; with "update existing invoices" on, the app's entry is replaced by the file's version, items included, and any category or memo you changed on it is overwritten. Voided invoices are not imported. |
| Records from the old HalaMoney app left on the same phone | Settings → tools → legacy data rescue | On a phone upgraded from the old app, checks for old records that never synced and recovers them; the same section has "resync old data". Phone app only. |
When importing a general CSV, entries with the same date, amount, store and memo are treated as duplicates and skipped, so importing one file twice doesn't double it. Picked the wrong import button? The app recognises which kind of file it is and suggests the right one.
Importing on the web app needs Premium; importing in the phone app doesn't.
